The Manukau District representative teams are made up from players affiliated to Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club and Papatoetoe Cricket Club. The organisation is run by a management committee made up of Junior Club committee members from both clubs.
This committee works together to choose two teams (A & Development) each year for each of the following age groups:
• U18 Boys : This squad will consist mainly of players who excelled during the previous season including performances for school teams.
• School Year 9/10 Boys : This squad will consist mainly of players who excelled during the previous season including performances for school teams.
• U14 Boys : This squad will consist mainly of year 7 players from the previous season plus exceptional talent from year 6.
• U15 Girls (1 team) : This squad will consist mainly of players who excelled during the previous season.
Players are selected on merit to take part in the Auckland Cricket Association District Tournaments over December of each year.

The highlight of the representative season for HPCC is the hosting of the annual Primary School Boys District Tournament at Lloyd Elsmore Park between Christmas and New Year. This District Tournament acts as a pivotal selection tournament for the Auckland Cricket under 14 age group.
The week is contested in an A and B section, with Manukua competing against Central, Eastern, Western, North Harbour Black and North Harbour Burgundy. This is a special tournament in that it is the first time for many of these young cricketers to represent their district and pit their skills against one another, with the ultimate goal of selection for one of the two Auckland teams at the end of the week.
This tournament has the reputation of running like clockwork with all the participating clubs repeatedly expressing their appreciation. Kaushik Patel ACA High Performance Manager is quoted as saying that Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club's organisation of this tournament is amongst the best in the country.
Tournament History
The Christmas Tournament began originally in 1952 when seven Auckland Clubs joined with Northland in an eight team inter-district competition.
Standards improved rapidly and the format was soon changed to a two-section competition with section winners contesting a final. There were no significant changes until 1977 when the current six district 'A' and 'B' competitions were introducted.
Since then there have been a number of changes in the organisation of Junior District Cricket in Auckland. The current structure is a reversion to the District structure introduced in 1977 but now comprises only five districts, the Southern District having ceased to exist and the clubs now making up the manukau District. In 2001 the tournament format was fully aligned with the playing conditions for the regional tournament which follows this Tournament.
Up to the beginning of this, 57th Christmas Tournament the 'A' Section has been won By: Eastern (24), Grafton (3), Northland (1), Eden-Roskil (1), Papatoetoe (3), Cornwall (5), North Harbour (7), Central (8), South Eastern (6), Manukau District (1). The title has been shared on thirteen occassions.

Auckland Representative
An Auckland Year 9&10 team will be selected to complete in a North Island Junior Secondary tournament organised by Northern Districts. This tournament will be held from 16-21 January 2011 at Owen Delaney Park, Taupo. There will be 3 two day games.
A Year 9&10 Development team will be selected to complete in games organised against suitable opposition (e.g. Northern Districts). The focus for this team will be on players in Year 9 at school in 2010.
This tournament is played at the following venues
• A Section: Waikaraka Park & Keith Hay Park (Back up)
• B Section: Waikaraka Park & Keith Hay Park (Back up)
Format
'A' and Development Sections consist of 6 teams in each tournament. Both divisions play 3 one day matches and 2 two day matches.
Eligibility
U18 as at 1 September 2010. Within each District's squad (i.e. 24 players) there must be a minimum of one thirdof the squad (8 players) have to be in year 11 at school in 2010*.
* A special dispensation will be provided to North Harbour, reducing the minimum number of Year 11 players in each of their squads to six. Whilst North Harbour does field twice the number of teams to the other four districts, it does not draw from twice the number of players so it would be unfair to apply the same 1/3 minimum ratio (of Year 11’s) across both squads. NH Burgundy and NH Black will be treated as separate squads of 24, however by applying the 1/3 minimum it would mean that the district would need to include at least 16 Year 11 players in its overall group of 48 x Under 18 players. It is felt that this would unfairly exclude Year 12 and Year 13 players in this age group who are eligible for selection
Dates
'A & Development' - Sunday 5 December, Sunday 12 - Friday 17 December 2010.
