A very special welcome to all our Midget players especially those registering with the Club for the first time. Our club has a number of grounds across the Howick Pakuranga area, with Lloyd Elsmore the main ground

At Howick Pakuranga we take pride in providing an opportunity for youngsters to play in an organised and, particularly in the case of the years 1,2,3 and 4 Midget grades, non-competitive sporting environment.

Here at HPCC it is important that there is an emphasis placed on the enjoyment of the game, rather than winning. The clubs objective encompasses this enjoyment with:
“ to provide enjoyable cricket for children of all levels of ability”

All activity in the Junior Club is managed by the Junior Committee Members and Grade Liaison Officers. All are volunteers who give of their time for the enjoyment of junior cricket, played by the players for the players.

A Grade Liaison Officer manages each grade and is responsible for the organisation of their grade. Coaches and Managers for each team work with the Liaison officer to ensure the effective running of the teams in all ways. Remember your Grade Liaison Officer is always your first port of call for any of your Grade specific queries.
The general rule of thumb is the player plays in this grade correlating to their school year (i.e. Someone in year 3 at the club should be in year 3 at school.

Objectives
As part of the Junior Club’s overall objective is to provide each child with the opportunity to develop:
• An awareness and interest in the game of cricket
• Cricket skills which enables participation in a variety of games and activities within the club structure;
• Knowledge and understanding of cricket and strategies;
• Social skills which promote acceptable standards of behaviour and positive relationships with others;
• Attitude and values that will encourage participation and enjoyment of sport in general both as a participant and spectator.
• This will be achieved in a fun environment to ensure we provide enjoyable cricket for children of all levels of ability.

 The season traditionally commences on the first Saturday after Labour Weekend and continures through to the week prior to Christmas.

The season then restarts on the first Saturday after Waitangi Day and continues through to the end of March.  For exact dates please refer to the Club Calendar.

Parental Help - We would love your help!

We are a large club, over 650 junior players, and have a fantastic group of enthusiastic volunteers, parents just like you, who organize the club. We would also like your help to coach, manage, score or umpire during the season. This is very rewarding, kids love parents being involved. Please tick the appropriate box on the enrolment form if you can assist with your child’s team.

Milo Skills Programme (Have-a-go and Kiwi Cricket)

HPCC run these skill sessions as a basis for skill development and these programmes are important for our young cricketers to learn the fundamental skills. These skills sessions are fun and provide activity and opportunities for skill development.
