Despite some rain earlier in the day the final evening round got underway under clear skies yet again.
Our top of the table clash saw professional Amateurs bat first against HP Rovers.A good start with John 17 and Grant 24 followed by Toddy on 30 retired could not be sustained and tight bowling from the rovers restricted them to 130. In reply Rovers got off to a better start with Damien 26, Bevan 33 and Ted 27 setting the groundwork which ensured they reached the total with 2 balls to spare. Win to HP Rovers.
At the other end of the table we saw the 2 winless teams play with one team guaranteed to break its duck. Black Craps batted first v Chinheads and struggled to get the momentum they needed to set a big target. Some good middle order batting saw Marcel 21 and Andrew 25 n.o take them through to 106. In reply the Chinheads had Rob the opener make 28 then 2 more quick wickets before Tony steadied the ship with 28 n.o. to see them home for their first win. Win to Chinheads

A Chinhead hits the winning run
The Black Craps don't look happy
The match between 4 or Nothing v 6 or Bust was notable for its indecipherable scoresheet, but here goes. Bust batted first and scored 153 with Jos 30*, Spud 30* and Woody 30* contributing to a good total. In reply despite Nothings having Reg 30, Dil 36 and Matt 22 they were not able to get the target even though the scorers kept telling them they had 4 overs left when there was really only 1. By now they were playing in near darkness. A lot of sledging was evident, but Win to 6 or Bust.
WIDE!
Not wide!
Online Carpets batted first against Dads Army and again posted a totally pathetic 181. OK I guess the 6 ball overs may have slowed them down. Also Dads Army only bowled 5 wides so every other ball was there to be hit. Andrew top scoring with 50.
In reply Dads Army had Cam 27 along with Brennan & John in the 20’s but were well short on 115. Win to Online Carpets
Who said it was dark? Fielding by feel.
Finally we had Slammin Shews up against Healthcare Hooligans. The Shews batted first and scored 135. Marlin the opener distinguished himself by being out first ball of the match but good batting from there on saw Jerry 35* and Wayne 28 get them along to a competitive 135. The hooligans would have to chase the total in the dark due to the slow pace of this match but they chased well with Glenn and Matt the openers getting 36 and 33 respectively setting the team up nicely to get the win with 3 balls to spare.
Our final round robin match will be played on Sunday 28th March at 12.30. At the conclusion of these matches there will be an approx 30 minute break and we will then play a round of finals from 3.00pm with 1 v 2 etc down to the battle for the wooden spoon. These matches will be 8 ball overs. Please note the clubs caterers will be on site and we will have hot food, sandwiches, muffins, coffee etc available so bring all the family along and make a day of it as we finish off what has been an excellent season.
